When Canada Day rolls around, it’s like everybody and everything just throws up their arms and says, “Woo hoo! Welcome to summer vacation!” It’s time for bathing suits, pools and towels, backyard hangouts with friends and family, fish and chip picnics on the beach, long evenings on the patio, and pier jumping.
Yes, the lazy days of summer are definitely upon us. Can you feel it? It’s time to list my favourite July things. Maybe you’ll find something to add to your list of essentials for this balmy, fun-filled month.
Before I list my favourite things, I’ll share one of my favourite July memories. One time, our freezer decided to stop working we had quite a bit of frozen salmon and halibut stored in it from my husband’s fishing trips.
Now, what do you do in the heat of the summer with a freezer that’s crapped out? Well…you fill up the wagon, head out into the neighbourhood, hand out fish, and invite all your neighbours for dinner, that’s what you do! We had an impromptu neighbourhood backyard hangout on a beautiful July evening. It will always be a treasured memory.
Onto my favourite July things!

You can take this versatile bag to the beach, the market, and on daily errands too! Aren’t the details on the leather straps great?

This Turkish-inspired towel from the Vancouver Island community of Tofino has quality natural fibers, and it’s fashionable too!
Actually, I am going to nap in this hammock in just a moment. Heck, maybe I’ll nap the summer away!
Here’s a lounger for next-level relaxing. Maybe I should have my nap right here?
Sitting around a gas fire table is the next best thing to the real thing.
These beauties look great on an outdoor patio, deck, or around your umbrella.
