Hippie Snacks: Whole food snacks with a hippie twist

When you hear the name Hippie Snacks, does your mind race back to sixties flower power and the smell of the earth after the rain on a hot summer day?

Personally, I like those associations. And I love what Hippie Snacks does.

Back in 2005, Ian Walker created Hippie Snacks out of the desire to make whole food snacks.  Knowing this was something to run with, he started by making food that had a “hippie” twist on traditional snacks. Think: grain-free, ancient grain granola and coconut chips. Soon, Hippie Snacks became known for launching the first cauliflower snacks with their Cauliflower Crisps.

Out of their entire line of quirky whole food snacks, Avocado is my favourite, obviously! Here’s the line up: Avocado Crisps (sea salt and guacamole), Cauliflower Crisps (the first cauliflower snack ever), Coconut Chips, and Coconut Clusters (which come in 5 different flavours with savoury and sweet options). These delightful whole food snacks are baked, plant-based, vegan, gluten free, dairy-free, and contain 5 grams of protein per serving.  Sugar is coming in at 1 gram per serving. They also have a sesame snack which is 37% less sugar than other market leaders. I love a good nutritious whole food snack!

Hippie Snacks is committed to using high quality, non-GMO ingredients, all sourced from sustainable farmers and processors. They are locally produced with minimal processing.

And another great thing: they are very particular about the types of ingredients they use in their products.  You can actually pronounce the nutrient dense ingredients on the labels. This is something I can get behind!! How about you? The quality of what we put into our bodies is given back to us by how our bodies respond.

Hippie Snacks believes that making good decisions will not only benefit customers, but also farmers, the community, and the planet.  They also believe each business has an obligation to be a positive contributor to society.  They sure do their part: volunteering, charitable donations, and providing healthy whole food snacks to those in need.  Applause to you, Hippie Snacks.

Employee benefits at Hippie Snacks are also an essential part of their success. Their employees receive paid service days and monthly on-site massages, to name a few.

The people of Hippie Snacks are grateful for all the fabulous feedback and they say keep it comin’.  Remember: positive feedback encourages local companies to continue with their passion. It’s like the little engine that could!
